Lifestyle/Family Assessment

Master trainer Shaughnessy will learn about your family, household, physical residence and property. The following details are critical to finding the appropriate breed & dog for you:

  • Family: children, spouse, tenants, household staff
  • Lifestyle: work & school schedule, travel, household activity level (guests, hosting/entertaining)
  • Residence: house/apartment, yard, climate, neighborhood (rural, urban, suburban)

Security Needs/Expectation Assessment

Master trainer Shaughnessy will learn about your family, lifestyle, neighborhood, physical residence and property, and history of crime and threat. Master Trainer Shaughnessy will discuss your specific security expectations with you and inform you of any additional security risks that he may become aware of.  The following details are critical to finding the appropriate breed, and to determine if your Executive Family Protection Dog requires Level 1 Security Training, Level 2 Security Training*, or Level 3 Security Training*:

  • Family: Will the dog’s primary protection duty be to the family as a whole or a specific individual? Who will be the primary handler(s)?
  • Lifestyle: Will the dog be expected to secure its handler(s) outside of the primary residence or neighborhood (work, secondary residence, school, travel, errands)?
  • Neighborhood: Urban (high density), suburban or rural. Local attractions & high traffic businesses (schools, hospitals, fire stations, police stations, stadiums, malls, etc.). Crime rate & history.
  • Residence/property: Size of the property & home. Where will the dog reside (in the home, garage, or outdoors)? Will the dog have access to the inside of the home while you are in residence and/or away? Will the dog be able to enter/exit the home without handler? Property details (the front/back yard fences, pool/pond, outbuildings, sports courts, etc.)
  • History of Crime/Threat: Knowledge of a threat to the handler, family, household member, or staff.  History of crime at the residence/property or in the immediate neighborhood (trespass, vandalism, robbery, breaking & entering, home invasion, etc.)?
