Security Training

At Excel K-9 Services Inc. we take a holistic approach to training your Executive Family Protection Dog. We socialize our K-9s to be safe, friendly companions, that are ever ready to protect you and your family. Specifically, our training will ensure that your dog responds to both male and female handlers, is comfortable accompanying you anywhere, will ignore all distractions, and is calm and composed in any setting. This approach prepares our dogs for success in the real world, where they will be met with a variety of environments, people, and situations.

Level 1

All Executive Family Protection Dogs must complete the Level 1 Security Training program. At the completion of Level 1 Security Training, your K-9 will be trained as follows:

Voice & hand signal commands
Basic obedience (sit, stay, down, come, etc.)
On leash obedience (heel, walk at hip, pacing, etc.)
Agility (jumps, ladders, tunnels, etc.)
Level 1 protection/guarding (bark on command, positioning, alerting, handler/family defense, property protection etc.)

Level 2*

All Executive Family Protection Dogs must complete the Level 1 Security Training program. Master Trainer Shaughnessy will determine the need for Level 2 Security Training based on your Security Needs/Expectation Assessment. Upon completion of Level 2 Security Training, your K-9 will be trained as follows:

Voice & hand signal commands
Basic obedience (sit, stay, down, come, etc.)
On leash obedience (heel, walk at hip, pacing, etc.)
Agility (jumps, ladders, tunnels, etc.)
Level 1 protection/guarding (bark on command, positioning, alerting, handler/family defense, property protection, etc.)
Level 2 protection/guarding (assailant/intruder apprehension, engage/bite/attack on command, release on command, etc.)
Basic Firearm training (engage/bite/apprehend assailant discharging a weapon)

Level 3*

All Executive Family Protection Dogs complete the Level 1 Security Training program. Master Trainer Shaughnessy will determine the need for Level 3 Security Training based on your Security Needs/Expectation Assessment. Upon completion of Level 3 Security Training, your K-9 will be trained as follows:

Voice & hand signal commands
Basic obedience (sit, stay, down, come, etc.)
On leash obedience (heel, walk at hip, pacing, etc.)
Agility (jumps, ladders, tunnels, etc.)
Level 1 protection/guarding (bark on command, positioning, alerting, handler/family defense, property protection, etc.)
Level 2 protection/guarding (assailant/intruder apprehension, engage/bite/attack on command, release on command, etc.)
Level 3 protection/guarding (actively search property/residence/vehicle for assailant/intruder on command)
Basic Firearm training (engage/bite/apprehend assailant discharging a weapon)
Advanced Firearm training (distinguish between assailant and handler discharging a weapon, remain neutral to handler/family member discharging a firearm while continuing to engage assailant)
